Cell Biologist Position

The Department of Biological Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University is seeking applicants for a tenure track, 9-month, Assistant Professor Cell Biologist (Biomedical) position, beginning August 15, 2016. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in the department's undergraduate Biology program (BS) and graduate degree (MS) program.

Primary courses to be taught include introductory Cell and Molecular Biology, upper level Cell Biology, and upper level Molecular Biology. Additional courses will be assigned based on the candidate's expertise and departmental needs. The typical teaching load is 12 hours per semester, but new faculty can expect to teach 9 hours per semester during their first year.

The successful candidate will establish an active biomedical research laboratory and mentor undergraduate and graduate (MS) students. Areas of research may include, but are not limited to, neurobiology, stem cell biology, viral pathogenesis, aging, cell cycle, and cell metabolism and dysfunction. Candidates will also be expected to participate in our new Biomedical Sciences major including pre-professional advising and serving on the Biomedical curriculum committee.
