EKU Science alum will be Scholars Week 2021's Alumni Spotlight speaker
EKU College of Science alum Dr. Derrick Morton is returning to EKU on April 6, 2021, as part of a week-long of events, speakers, and interviews that compile EKU's Scholars Week. Dr. Morton will be interviewing as part of the "Alumni Spotlight" for the Scholars Week events.
Morton's original plans did not include biology; however, it was his mentorship at EKU and his bright mind that paved the way for his very successful career in bioresearch. He is currently an instructor at Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine in Pasadena, CA, as well as a Visiting Professor at California Institute of Technology. His research efforts focus on genetic pathways and alterations. Morton has been named one of the "100 inspiring Black scientists in America", a "rising start in the biomedical world", among others. Dr. Morton is committed to his profession and paving the way for underrepresented students in the STEM field.
