Position Title: Cell and Molecular Biologist

Position Summary: The Department of Biological Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track, 9-month, Assistant Professor of Cell and Molecular Biology position, beginning August 15, 2020.

Teaching responsibilities will include courses in the department’s undergraduate Biology and Biomedical Sciences programs (BS) and graduate degree (MS) program. Primary courses to be taught are introductory biology and upper level courses in the Biomedical Sciences program. Courses will be assigned based on the candidate’s expertise and departmental needs. The typical teaching load is 12 hours per semester, but new faculty can expect to teach 9 hours per semester during their first year. Candidates will also be expected to participate in pre-professional advising of Biomedical Science majors.

The successful candidate will establish an active cell and molecular biology research laboratory (BSL 2 level or lower) and mentor undergraduate and graduate (MS) students. Areas of research may include, but are not limited to, developmental biology, microbiology, stem cell biology, biology of aging, cellular metabolism, and cell cycle regulation. Dedicated laboratory space and start-up funds are available. Review of applicants will begin on 6 January 2020 and continue until the position is filled.
