Biomedical Sciences (B.S.)
Incoming students must have a minimum Math ACT of 23, a minimum English ACT of 20, and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Existing students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher. Incoming students that do not meet the admission requirement can start in the BS Biology degree and declare the Biomedical degree once they have passed College Algebra (MAT 112 or 114) and Reading, Writing, and Rhetoric (ENG 101) with Cs or better, and achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA with at least 24 hours attempted. Continuing students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (24 hours or more attempted) and have passed MAT 112 or MAT 114 (College Algebra) and Reading, Writing, and Rhetoric (ENG 101) with Cs or better to declare the major.
This degree prepares students to apply for professional schools (dental, medical, optometry, physician assistant, and veterinary school) or a graduate program in biomedical research. These professional schools and biomedical graduate programs typically require an undergraduate GPA of at least a 3.0; many require a 3.5 or higher GPA.
